East Africa Finswimming Boot Camp
Seven days at the University of Dar es Salaam to train the first finswimming athletes and coaches of East Africa, with participants from Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia and Malaysia.
About the camp
The camp was organised with the Tanzania Finswimming Association, with the support of the finswimming organisations of Kenya and Uganda. Rubes Levada raised the funds, provided the equipment and led the training, and helped found the Tanzania Finswimming Association itself. Every day combined a two-hour session in the morning and one in the afternoon, mixing theory and practice: from the basics of the snorkel and the dolphin kick to starts, turns, relays and race training.
The week ended with an equipment session and a final event. As a follow-up, a Tanzania Finswimming International Conference was planned in Dar es Salaam for February 2022, and in 2022 the association took its first steps towards CMAS affiliation.
